Sunday Morning Bible Class: Fall Series— “Time flies!” You’ve heard that a gazillion times. But it’s true isn’t it? As creatures under the Creator, we need to ask, “How do we spend our time, and how do we spend our time wisely?” Through King Solomon God answers those questions in a most unique book of the Bible, Ecclesiastes. We’ll dig into this most practical book in Sunday Bible class, starting next Sunday, Sept.12, 2021, at 9:15 and 10 a.m. Enjoy fresh coffee, juice, and treats and special time for fellowship and interaction before and after each session (which means instead of 60 minutes of class, we’ll wrap up in 45 minutes)! Join us, won’t you, for Our Time Is in God’s Hands (a Study of Ecclesiastes):

Sept. 12           Is life a waste of time? (Ecc. 1:1-2:16)
Sept. 19           At times toil takes a toll (Ecc. 2:17-4:6)
Sept. 26           Do you have time for people? (Ecc. 4:7-5:7)
Oct. 3              How much time should money get? (Ecc. 5:8-6:12)
Oct. 10            It’s high time for mind-time (Ecc. 7:1-8:1)
Oct. 17            Is it ever time to play politics? (Ecc. 8:2-9:18)
Oct. 24            Time well spent (Ecc. 10:1-12:14)

Next Series at Grace in the Ward: A New Heart—God desires to change your heart for his glory. Whether you are lost and need a new heart or are already connected in faith but need an encouraged heart to serve God even when it’s not easy, our walk through the Bible book of Ezekiel will lead us on a path that will draw you closer to the Lord with a new heart. Please note there isn’t Grace in the Ward this week, due to the Third Ward Art Festival.

Oct. 3              God Does the Impossible
Oct. 10            Your Way or God’s Way?

Grace Place Coffee Needs You!

Dear Grace members,

If you are looking for opportunities to serve at your congregation as we continue to resume more normal routines, consider service at Grace Place Coffee! You may have enjoyed the convenience of a beverage or snack between Bible study and worship on Sundays in the past, and we really need you more than ever!

We would like to resume Sunday operation of the coffee shop once again, starting today, Sept. 12, 2021.

To make a pleasant opportunity for those who have not served at the coffee shop in the past, we would like to allow you to serve at your own comfort level. You don’t need to have full knowledge of opening and closing procedures, working the register, or becoming a lead barista, but you can add to your skills—at your own pace, when you like. You might enjoy starting as a greeter and going from there!

Level I: Greeter (Introductory)

Great first step to getting involved at Grace! Bring your kids or a friend and show them how great it feels to get involved. Also a great option to socialize with all your fellow Grace members you haven’t met. Tasks include: Welcome and direct people at Grace Center and coffee shop; wipe tables down, fill creamers and other supplies, and learn how to brew and refill drip coffee urns.

Level II: Register (Intermediate)

Low pressure way to get involved and help take the load off of the lead barista. Also a great way to get used to the coffee shop if you’re interested in the barista role but want to work your way up to it. Tasks include: Learn to operate the register. We have an intuitive and rather simple program once you do a couple transactions! Help fill orders of bottled beverages and treats, and write simple directions for the barista to make specialty drinks.

Level III: Barista (Experienced)

Love coffee? We’ll make sure you get the training to make some amazing specialty coffee drinks. No previous experience required. Tasks include: Make hot and cold specialty drinks: steam milk, pull espresso shots, and follow posted recipes. Ability to operate opening and closing procedures a plus! Ideally, there would be at least one person at this level per time slot.

Ideally, we would have three (3) people serving at a time, once a month, for one of three time slots: 6:45-8:45 a.m.; 8:30-10:30 a.m.; or 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Peak hours are 8:45-9 a.m. and 10-10:30 a.m. It would be great to have some overlap in shifts in an attempt to smoothly transition between time slots, so people can leave on time.

Interested? Let Pastor Hackmann know! Give him a call at 414-271-3006 or send him an email at bhackmann@gracedowntown.org. You can also check out the sign-up sheet at SignUp.com - CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP

We are also looking to hire 2-3 people to serve as Assistant Managers in the Coffee Shop. These people would be paid for their work and would be expected to take on a greater responsibility and number of shifts than our volunteers. Please contact our Church Administrators with questions or to apply at admin@gracedowntown.org.

Thank you for considering serving Grace in this way!
