Equipping Christian Witnesses (ECW) Sunday—Equipping Christian Witnesses (ECW) Sunday is today! ECW Sunday focuses on the next generation of pastors and teachers who study at Martin Luther College and are the future faces of our synod’s ministry. Rev. Paul Prange serves as our guest preacher, and there will be an opportunity to offer financial gifts in support of these young men and women. Prayerfully consider giving a gift, and please continue to keep our mission-focused schools in your prayers.
Open Forum Today—The annual open forum is today, Sunday, Nov. 7, at 9 and 10:15 a.m. in the Grace Center Great Hall. Bacon and other treats will be served by the church council, so come hungry, both in body and soul, and ready to discuss the exciting things happening at Grace Church! Everyone is invited—and encouraged—to attend!
New Series at Grace in the Ward: Heaven Is for Real—Heaven. You long for it. You hope for it. You have questions about it, such as “is it real?” And if it is, how do I get there? In teaching his disciples about heaven, Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you.” But what did Jesus mean? Join us as we explore the tremendous realities of heaven and what it means for you now and forever with Heaven Is for Real:
Nov. 7 The Judgement (John 5:19-29)
Nov. 14 Waiting (Mark 13:26-37)
Nov. 21 Victory (John 11:32-44; Rev. 20:4-6)
Sunday Morning Bible Class: Here We Stand—The next Sunday morning Bible study starts Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021. Here We Stand: The Legacy of Worms, 500 Years Later, is a Bible study by Pastor John Braun, based on the short film of the same name. Revisit Martin Luther’s stand at the Diet of Worms and how it relates to the foundational truths Lutherans treasure today. Sunday morning Bible class is offered at 9 and 10:15 a.m., where attendees enjoy fresh coffee, juice, and treats, spending time in the Word, and interactive fellowship before and after each session (which runs approximately 45 minutes). Questions, contact Pastor Brian Hackmann at email@example.com.
Divine Call Extended—At the last call meeting, Grace called Rev. Ross Chartrand to serve as an associate pastor here at Grace Church. Please keep him, his family, as well as Grace, in your prayers as he deliberates both his calls.
Advent by Candlelight—Advent by Candlelight is back! Women of Grace are invited to take some time, during one of the busiest times of the year, to focus their hearts on Christ for Christmas. The theme this year is “Your King is Here.” There will also be time to socialize and enjoy some desserts! Mark your calendar for Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021. Doors will open at 6 p.m., the program will start at 6:30 p.m., and will end by 8 p.m. Contact Advent by Candlelight coordinator Sarah Egelseer at 920-285-8775 or at firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
Advent by Candlelight: Hostesses Wanted—Advent by Candlelight is looking for hostesses! Keep it simple or go fancy, use china or paper plates—all you need to do is decorate a table, help your guests as needed, and serve as a conversation starter. This is an excellent opportunity to invite unchurched family or friends to share your faith. You can also invite other Grace friends or get to know other members and make some new ones! Interested in hosting? Contact Sarah Egelseer at 920-285-8775 or email@example.com. Not into decorating, or don’t have time to set up a table? Advent by Candlelight is also looking for volunteers to make or bring a dessert or charcuterie board for our event. Contact Sarah if interested!
Poinsettias Available to Order—It is time to order poinsettias to beautify the chancel for Christmas! Please use one of the envelopes provided on the Parish Center counter and deposit it in the box. The costs are $17 (single, 5-7 blooms) or $26 (double, 10-14 blooms); you may choose red or white. Orders must be in no later than Wednesday, Dec. 1. Poinsettias purchased can be taken home after morning worship on Christmas Day. Please make checks payable to Grace Lutheran Church. Questions, contact the church office at 414-271-3006 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
New! Grace Church Directory—Coming Soon! Grace Church will begin using an online pictorial member directory soon! The directory will launch in about a month, and will initially only have members’ names (confirmed members, no children) and email addresses. Members will then have the opportunity to add and/or edit as much information as they want, including mailing addresses, phone numbers, and—most importantly—photos! However, before we roll out the directory, we want to give members the chance to opt-out if they wish to not have their information included. If you wish to opt-out, contact the church administrators at email@example.com, and they will remove your details from the directory prior to launch. Watch your inbox and future GraceNotes for more details in the coming weeks!
