Thanksgiving at Grace—Join Grace in thanking God for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us and our church! Thanksgiving worship is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. (both services are the same). The 6:30 p.m. service will be live streamed via YouTube. We look forward to worshiping with you!

Midweek Advent at Grace—Grace is once again offering midweek Advent services! Services are set for Wednesdays, Dec. 1, 8, and 15, 2021, from 12:10-12:40 p.m. (a shortened version of the evening service--perfect for attending over your lunch break if you work downtown) and in the evening at 6:30 p.m., with a meal served beforehand. Angel Tree—Angel Tree is returning! This year, it will look a little different, due to some changes in the logistics of the program, but gifts will still need to be purchased for children in foster care. Watch GraceNotes for future details about how Angel Tree will work this year. Angel Tree will be up sometime after Thanksgiving, if not sooner. Stay tuned!

Offering Envelopes for 2022—Grace members’ 2022 offering envelopes will soon be available in the Parish Center. Those enrolled in electronic giving are generally not assigned envelopes. Grace Place Coffee Closed Today—Grace Place Coffee, Grace’s on-site coffee shop, is closed today. Please note the doors to the Grace Center will lock at 10:45 a.m. instead of noon.

New Sunday Morning Bible Class Today: Here We Stand—Today a new morning Bible class starts! Here We Stand: The Legacy of Worms, 500 Years Later is based on the short film of the same name. Revisit Martin Luther’s stand at the Diet of Worms and how it relates to the foundational truths Lutherans treasure today. Sunday morning Bible class is offered at 9 and 10:15 a.m., where attendees enjoy fresh coffee, juice, and treats, spending time in the Word, and interactive fellowship before and after each session (which runs approximately 45 minutes). Advent by Candlelight—Advent by Candlelight is back! Women of Grace are invited to take some time, during one of the busiest times of the year, to focus their hearts on Christ for Christmas. The theme this year is “Your King is Here.” There will also be time to socialize and enjoy some desserts! Mark your calendar for Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021. Doors will open at 6 p.m., the program will start at 6:30 p.m., and will end by 8 p.m. Contact Advent by Candlelight coordinator Sarah Egelseer at 920-285-8775 or at sarahegelseer@live.com to RSVP.

Advent by Candlelight: Hostesses Wanted—Advent by Candlelight is looking for hostesses! Keep it simple or go fancy, use china or paper plates—all you need to do is decorate a table, help your guests as needed, and serve as a conversation starter. This is an excellent opportunity to invite unchurched family or friends to share your faith. Poinsettias Available to Order—It is time to order poinsettias to beautify the chancel for Christmas! Please use one of the envelopes provided on the Parish Center counter and deposit it in the box. The costs are $17 (single, 5-7 blooms) or $26 (double, 10-14 blooms); you may choose red or white. Orders must be in no later than Wednesday, Dec. 1. Poinsettias purchased can be taken home after morning worship on Christmas Day. Please make checks payable to Grace Lutheran Church. Now Live! Grace Church Directory—Grace's online photo directory is live! Instant Church Directory is available either through a free app or on the web at instantchurchdirectory.com. To begin using the directory, locate the ‘Member Sign-in’ button, and then the “Create Login’ button. Enter the email address you think Grace has on file for you, and create a password. If the email is correct, a link will be emailed to verify your account. Follow the emailed instructions and you will return to the login screen to sign in. If the login is unsuccessful, we either have the wrong email or no email on file for you. Email admin@gracedowntown.org with the email you wish to use and we will update it for you. Once successfully signed in, you can edit/update your account as you wish. We encourage you to upload a photo! Please note, all changes need to be approved by the administrator, so there will be a lag time until any changes are active. Job Opening at Grace—Grace is urgently seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Events Coordinator. This part-time position works closely with the Events Director and is responsible for select events and activities held at Grace. Hours range between 20-30 hours; includes some nights and weekends based on event need. Pay range is $12-$15 per hour, based on experience. Grace in Action: Food Drive—Grace in Action is running a food drive this month for Northside Lutheran Ministries, an inner city charity program. Collection bins are located in the Parish Center and in the Grace Center. Needed items include cereal, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned meats, pancake mix, syrup, cake mix and frosting. Christmas Caroling in the Ward—Join Grace in the Ward for Christmas caroling on Sunday, Dec. 12, at noon! Grace is looking to compile a digital archive of photos for future use on Grace’s social media channels, websites, and special event presentations. High resolution photos (in either .jpg or .png file format) are preferred, however scans of older, non-digital photos are welcome. Free Vintage Red HymnalsWould you like to keep one of Grace’s red CW93 hymnals as a keepsake or collector’s item? Take one home! The red hymnals are stacked on a table in the Parish Center. Please take one (or two)—they are free to take for personal use.

Volunteer Drivers Needed—Kingdom Workers is assisting Children’s Hospital in recruiting volunteers in the Milwaukee area. Help is needed to transport children in foster care to and from school—an urgent need due to the bus driver shortage. Are you at least 21, have a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance? Are you willing to help for a limited time? Times and days are determined by volunteer availability. Mileage is reimbursable. Luther Prep Band Concert—You are invited to join Luther Prep (1300 Western Ave, Watertown) today, Sunday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in their auditorium for their annual Fall Band Concert. The program, entitled "A Salute to the Classics," will highlight famous composers and their music, often with a slight twist.

Lutheran Chorale Hymn Festival—Kick off the Christmas concert season with the Lutheran Chorale of Milwaukee on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (1052 White Rock Ave., Waukesha)! This year’s concert, “Light from Light,” will take the form of a hymn festival, featuring selections from the last Sundays of the church year through Christmas and beyond. Included in the repertoire will be arrangements from prominent Lutheran composers John Behnke, Carl Schalk, Kevin Hildebrand, Charles Ore, and—of course—J.S. Bach. During the concert, former Chorale members Lynn and Cal Kozlowski will be honored for over 50 years of service. As her final performance with the Chorale, Lynn will play 20 minutes of pre-concert music, so come early! The concert will also be available via live stream—visit lutheranchorale.org the day of the concert to tune in!

Wisconsin Lutheran College Choir Concert—The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir present their Christmas Festival Concert, Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. in the Center for Arts and Performance Schwan Concert Hall (8815 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee).
