Installation of Newly Elected Council Officers—Today, during the 9 a.m. service, the newly elected officers to the council will be installed. Those being installed include Jeff Hatzung as the new congregation president, Paul Kieselhorst as vice president, Josh Grefe as secretary, and Josh Seeger to a second full term. May God bless these men as they serve our church, and grant them wisdom and discernment.

Mortgage Burning After Today’s Services—Thanks to your generous offerings to Gifts of Grace 2, the loan on the Grace Center is now under $175,000, and the leaders of Grace agree that our reserve funds can cover and erase the balance! Mortgage burnings will take place today, Sunday, Feb. 7, after each service. Thanks be to God for blessing Grace Church!

Picture the Passion: A Study of the Book of Zechariah—What is the turning point in the entire history of the world, so huge an event that it impacts you every moment of every day—giving peace when the world offers little peace, giving hope when you feel hopeless, giving strength when you are weak, giving joy when sadness surrounds? Answer: The Passion of our Lord Jesus. What a thrill to study the pictures of the prophet Zechariah which point to the reality that makes all the difference in our life! Book Sale—Most Certainly True, Grace’s podcast, is working through God’s Providence, and you’re invited to pick up a book and follow along! The book, which is a part of the People’s Bible Teaching Series, is $13 to purchase, with copies available in the narthex. The podcast started discussing the book on Feb. 3, but there is still time to catch up! Contact Pastor Hackmann at bhackmann@gracedowntown.org with any questions!

Grace Apparel Orders Open—Show off our church and wear Grace proudly around Milwaukee. These stylish polo shirts, pullovers, baseball caps and knit caps that showcase the Grace logo could be a great conversation starter and way to witness your faith! Orders can be submitted until Monday, February 15, 2021. Order forms are available in the Parish Center on the counter, as well as online at gracedowntown.org/connect/graceapparelstore. Payments can be made via cash or check (checks should be made out to Grace Lutheran Church). Payments can be dropped off in the offering plate (place in envelopes and label ‘Grace Apparel Order’ along with your name) or at the church office during regular weekday hours, or checks can be mailed to 1209 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI, 53202.

Moms Group 2021 Dates—Moms Group is back for 2021! Continuing with virtual Zoom meetings for now, moms are invited to join in as the group works through a Bible Study based on a Risen Motherhood, a popular podcast. Meetings are on Fridays at 9 a.m. (unless stated otherwise). Below are the dates for the rest of the school year:

Bible Information Class—Bible Information Class (BIC) begins again on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Whether you are considering becoming a member of Grace or want to refresh on what we believe as a church, this class is for all! Choral Celebration: A Concert—You’re invited to a choir concert like none other! Boasting a unique collection of timeless classics, familiar favorites, and rare choral gems, and featuring the “best choruses singing the best choruses,” this special Choral Celebration will take place Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., here at Grace. This concert promises to be uplifting, devotional, and instructive, with printed texts and a few introductory remarks. Due to COVID restrictions, up to 125 guests are able to attend the concert, with face coverings for ages 5 and older required. Grace Place Coffee: Temporarily Closed—Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic and in an effort to best use the financial resources of Grace Lutheran Church, the church council has made the difficult decision to temporarily close Grace Place Coffee. It is the goal of the council for this to be temporary, with hopes to reopen in Fall 2021 with an improved plan and purpose. Details about this decision will be in the next monthly newsletter. Thank you, Grace members for your years of patronage, and a special thanks to our many volunteers and managers over the years for your work in the coffee shop. 

Job Opening at Grace—Grace is seeking a candidate to fill a part-time custodian position in the Grace Center. Responsibilities include cleaning work and event spaces as well as assisting with special event set up and take down. Position is for 10 hours a week; candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Great opportunity for students and night owls.
