In This Together
“In This Together” is our first series of small group materials. Each part will focus on one area of Grace’s mission and ministry. Last October was on worship. This February, we’ll focus on evangelism. The goal is to have 6-10 Grace members study, learn, and discuss ideas about evangelism as it applies to our common efforts at church and our personal outreach to others. Grace Groups that already exist are more than welcome to use or not use these materials when they get together.
Here are three ways you can get involved:
Be a Host: Serve your fellow Grace members by organizing a space for the group. Prepare your own place for visitors, reserve a spot at Grace, or arrange a group near a playground or at a restaurant. Come up with your own idea and see who joins you. Whatever the location, the host takes this burden off the others so the group can meet in peace and have a good time. If you meet at your house, please note we will not advertise your exact address to protect your privacy online. So, if you like parties but don’t necessarily want to guide a discussion, you might be a host in the making!
Be a Guide: The group guide is not the spiritual expert in the room, but simply the person who guides the discussion. A training session for all guides will be held Sunday, January 15th, to cover the materials and lay out the goals for each week of the study. If you are signing up as a guide, please put this date on your calendar! This training will also be recorded and shared by email for any who cannot attend.
Participate: Starting January of 2017, you can sign up for a group that fits your schedule and location preference. A map is available here for you to find a group; it will show hosts’ general locations without revealing addresses publicly. More specific details of your group’s location will come towards the end of January from your group host after sign-ups have ended. Please note the best group size is ten or fewer; some groups may fill up quickly!
New ventures like this are exciting, but can also be intimidating. Be bold! Even if this may not seem like your cup of tea, give it a try. Prayerfully consider how you would like to be involved, make it happen, and encourage others to do the same. After all, by the grace of God we’re all “in this together” and he will bless our time in his Word. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Bondow.
