But God Said ...

From the Akron Beacon Journal:

"Convicted debtors Norman and Melissa Cameron of Hartford, Connecticut said in court documents that God told them they didn't have to pay their mortgage.

"Dean Trammel, 22, of Baltimore, charged with assaulting a flight attendant, said in court that God told him he didn't have to remain seated during the landing.

"Donald R. Delgade, arrested for driving through the front door of the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago, said God told him to.

"Priscilla Lee Jansma, of Aurora, Colorado, arrested for killing her husband, told police, 'Jesus told me it was okay to do it.'"

God wants you to listen carefully and enjoy his love.

You be the judge. Of course, you've probably been there before, right? Desperate for validation of your own selfish desires, you go beyond rationalization to divine speculation. "But God wants me to be happy." "God wouldn't want me to miss out on this opportunity." "God votes Republican." If God were dead he'd be rolling over in his grave. But he's alive, and he wants you to do better than worthless, selfish speculation. He wants you to listen more carefully and enjoy his love. And it's no secret, either, but public information. You just need to listen.

"He wakens me morning by morning," Isaiah the prophet says, "wakens my ear to listen like one being taught." (50:4) Oh, God has lots to teach you. Primarily that he loves you in different ways, and he'll care for you today just like yesterday, and he's so delighted when you carefully follow his will found in his Word - the Bible (not hidden in the deep caverns of human psychology and only uncovered by deep meditation or trauma).

Like the sweet sounds of the morning birds or the brewing coffee pot, God whispers sweet everythings into ears willing to listen, to be taught. We find those whispers in the Bible, plain and clear for anyone to read. The Bible is only complicated to those whose ears enjoy the sounds of competing noise like greed, laziness or selfish ambition. Put those sounds aside, pick up your Bible and listen to what God says.

You'll be delighted by what you hear. And it'll help you stay out of jail.
