Brace Yourself for the Dreadful Days of the End of Time

Jesus warns us that the days that precede the end of time will not be easy for believers. Our faith in Christ readies us for these difficult days and gives us confident joy as we look forward to our Savior’s return.

Sermon on Luke 21:5-19 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, so rule and govern our hearts and minds by your Holy Spirit that we may always look forward to the end of this present evil age and to the day of your righteous judgment. Keep us steadfast in true and living faith and present us at last holy and blameless before you; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.

Look Forward to the Best Which is Yet to Come

Faith cares little about the details of life in heaven with God but simply looks forward to the day when all believers will be with the Lord forever.

Sermon on Isaiah 65:17-25 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Brian Hackmann.

Prayer:

Living God, your almighty power is made known chiefly in showing mercy and pity. Grant
us the fullness of your grace to lay hold of your promises and live forever in your presence; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Rely on Forgiveness in the Name of Jesus.
At the heart of our relationship with God is his pardon and forgiveness to us through Jesus. We have every reason to celebrate that astounding news as the focus for worship today.

Sermon on Romans 5:6-11 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Jim Huebner.

Prayer: Lord God, forgive the wrongdoing of your people and be gentle with us in our weakness. Deliver us from the bondage of our sin and direct us to the path of righteousness; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Jesus has called us to be his witnesses in the world. By faith we accept his commission and make it our highest priority. In this section from 2 Corinthians 11, the apostle Paul talks about giving up everything to share the power of the gospel with others.

Sermon on 2 Corinthians 11:21b-30 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong.

Pastor Brian Hackmann reminds us of his great cookie challenge as he tries to get to know names and faces at Grace. Our book this week is James, which gives us a refreshing call to repent and stay humble in our walk with the Lord. The historical context and setting greatly assist us in how we interpret the words of this letter and remind us how important a message this book is for both new and mature Christians today.

Special start and end music, "The B-I-B-L-E," performed by Elsie Bondow (age 3) and Kevin Becker (age 3+).

Jesus promises to provide for his witnesses. When he calls his people to share the good news of forgiveness, he doesn’t send them out alone. He provides all they need as his children and witnesses.

Sermon on 1 Peter 5:1-4 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Jim Huebner.

Almighty God, You have built your church on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. Continue to send your messengers to preserve your people in true peace, that, by the preaching of your Word, your Church may be kept free from all harm and danger; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Consider this a throwback Thursday as the original thinkers for this podcast, Jessica Tess and Becky Schermerhorn, join in to give an update on the Bible Reading Challenge, what we've learned, and find out the status update for all our coffee mugs. We've made it to the last page of the Bible Reading Challenge, so "don't stop now!" and "it's never too late to jump in!"

Because the Lord loves us, we love one another. We imitate the Lord’s love for us by coming to the aid of those in need, no matter who they are.

Sermon on Luke 10:25-37 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Brian Hackmann.

God of all power and might, you are the giver of all that is good. Help us love you with all our heart, strengthen us in true faith, provide us with all we need, and keep us safe in your care;
through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

How would you spell "fludubered"? There may be no right/wrong answer, but we do know the Word of God is one-of-a-kind and vital for true life. Pastor Huebner joins in to podcast on both 1 & 2 Peter and the special way we are encouraged in Christian living and believing through difficult times by these two letters.

The Word of God is the one thing needful. Life is full of distractions, but followers of Jesus know how to balance busy lives with time spent in the Word, the source of life.

Sermon on Genesis 18:1-14 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Daniel Bondow.

Almighty God, we thank you for planting in us the seed of your Word. By your Holy Spirit help us to receive it with joy and to bring forth fruits in faith and hope and love; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Congrats in advance to the listener who makes it to the end of this podcast (and to the reader who finishes Ezekiel's 48 chapters!). MKE Downtown Workers Appreciation Week never had such an impact on a podcast until now. Grow in your own appreciation for Ezekiel's prophetic work that utilized a variety of genres (apocalyptic, poetry, parable) in order that people would "know that I am the LORD."

As Jesus teaches us how to pray, he encourages us to pray about spiritual priorities and to be confident that he will answer.

Sermon on Luke 11 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong.

O Lord, your ears are always open to the prayers of your humble servants, who come to you in Jesus’ name. Teach us always to ask according to your will that we may never fail to obtain the blessings you have promised; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Different Gospel writer, but same gospel message. Listen in for discussion of a new Bible, some audio Bibles and the Gospel of John. This Gospel has a unique perspective of the life of Jesus (different from the "Synoptic Gospels" of Matthew, Mark, and Luke). He offers his readers (Jews and Gentiles = you!) many memorable statements and unique stories that showcase Christ's saving love and work in the face of opposition and rejection. John helps us know that his words are God's words and are "written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (see John 20).
