Hold on to the promises of God. Life is full of surprises, some good and some bad. We place our lives in the hands of the man who stilled the waters, Jesus our Lord, knowing that he always has out eternal interest in mind.

Sermon on Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor James Huebner.

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve. Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Earthly wealth is passing. Where to find true happiness? Would you agree that many look for happiness in the material things of this world? Have you been down that road? The readings for our worship today remind us that everything of this world, including our money, is passing away. Seek the one treasure that will endure, and find it in Jesus who gives us the treasure of eternal life that can never perish, spoil, or fade.

Sermon on Colossians 3:1-11 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Daniel Bondow.

O Lord, grant us wisdom to recognize the treasures you have stored up for us in heaven that we may never despair but always rejoice and be thankful for the riches of your grace; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Different Gospel writer, but same gospel message. Listen in for discussion of a new Bible, some audio Bibles and the Gospel of John. This Gospel has a unique perspective of the life of Jesus (different from the "Synoptic Gospels" of Matthew, Mark, and Luke). He offers his readers (Jews and Gentiles = you!) many memorable statements and unique stories that showcase Christ's saving love and work in the face of opposition and rejection. John helps us know that his words are God's words and are "written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (see John 20).

Start Music: "The B-I-B-L-E," performed by Elsie B. (age 3) and Kevin B. (age 3+).

End Music: "Jesus Loves Me"

This week Most Certainly True breaks from the usual format to bring you a Special Reformation Episode. Some might even say Extra Special. Guests Dr. Wade Johnston, WLC professor, and Rachel Jankovic, author, join the show for an investigative look at culture of yesterday and today, the Reformation, and  how God’s Word gives Christ back to us as often as you read it. Listen to find out how we discover our narrative completely outside of ourselves, how social media is the new printing press, and what President Josh Schermerhorn prays for when he thinks of the members at Grace. Grab a blanket and cozy up...this is a collect call you definitely want to take!
