Trust That the Lord Is Bringing Final Deliverance

This universe will one day end. What is our attitude toward the coming of The End? Knowing that we will be face to face with God and our eternal destiny, what attitude fills our hearts—fear? dread? anxiety? How about faith! Our worship today focuses on trust that he builds in our hearts as we look to his final deliverance.

Sermon on Revelation 22:6-13 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Daniel Bondow.

Prayer:

Almighty God and Savior, you have set the final day and hour when we shall be delivered from this world of sin and death. Keep us ever watchful for the coming of your Son that we may sit with him and all your holy ones at the marriage feast in heaven; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Brace Yourself for the Dreadful Days of the End of Time

Jesus warns us that the days that precede the end of time will not be easy for believers. Our faith in Christ readies us for these difficult days and gives us confident joy as we look forward to our Savior’s return.

Sermon on Luke 21:5-19 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, so rule and govern our hearts and minds by your Holy Spirit that we may always look forward to the end of this present evil age and to the day of your righteous judgment. Keep us steadfast in true and living faith and present us at last holy and blameless before you; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.

Look Forward to the Best Which is Yet to Come

Faith cares little about the details of life in heaven with God but simply looks forward to the day when all believers will be with the Lord forever.

Sermon on Isaiah 65:17-25 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Brian Hackmann.

Prayer:

Living God, your almighty power is made known chiefly in showing mercy and pity. Grant
us the fullness of your grace to lay hold of your promises and live forever in your presence; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Sermon on Luke 9:28-36 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Daniel Bondow.

Then and now, the road to the cross is difficult and treacherous. Jesus prepared three of his followers for the journey to Calvary by enabling them to see some of the brilliance of his divine
majesty and to hear the witness of two Old Testament prophets. The disciples didn’t grasp what they saw and heard, but we understand the significance of the transfiguration and are
strengthened as we begin our walk through the rigors of Lent. What happened that day on the mountaintop counsels us on the way of the cross.

Pastors Bondow and Strong consider the kings and prophets at play in the book of 1 Kings. Also, how is reading a long book like this similar to enduring a long winter? Bonus: why some Bible names are so great for our kids. Thanks for listening and God bless your Bible reading!

Sermon on Luke 6:27-38 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong.
Life with a forgiving Savior ha an impact on our lives with others, even those who make our lives difficult and unhappy. Our everyday prayer is that Jesus would use his love to move us to love one another. In Luke 6, Jesus teaches us to be merciful, just as our heavenly Father is merciful.

Heavenly Father, keep your family continually in true faith, so that those who rely only on the hope of your heavenly grace may be protected by your mighty power, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Pastor Huebner returns as guest as we review Paul's letter to the Romans and what it has meant to readers past and present, giving us many favorite passages (like Wanda's). Don't be intimidated by the depth of this book. Paul poses hard question after question in a way that helps you see God's perfect answers to all our challenges. God's message through Christ gets to the heart of what matters most and sets you free to live in faith's clarity and to demonstrate God's love.

Sermon on Luke 5:1-11 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Daniel Bondow.
Jesus came to our world to proclaim the good news of forgiveness that he would gain by his perfect life and innocent death. In his amazing wisdom and love, he called his followers to carry the gospel of forgiveness to all the world. Whether as individuals or as members of the public ministry, we share the message of Jesus’ love wherever we go. Here in Luke 5, through grace and power, Jesus calls Peter into his service to fish for people.

Sermon on Jeremiah 1:4-10 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor James Huebner.
Bad news is not only crime, poverty, disease, and inequality. These spring from the real bad news: sin, guilt, judgment, and death. Only the gospel can attack and destroy the world’s greatest problems, and the gospel is revealed in the words and works of Christ. Here in Jeremiah 1, the Lord called Jeremiah to proclaim law and gospel to destroy the devil's lies and give us confidence in our Savior-God in life and in death.

01/29/2019

Sermon on Isaiah 61:1-6 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor Aaron Strong. Through the pen of the prophet Isaiah the eternal Son proclaimed his mission. What God promised in the Old Testament he fulfilled in the coming of Jesus. What he promises to us is as
certain as his Word, for his promises are based on the completed work of Christ.

Pastor Strong joins in on the fun as we consider the incredible lessons and encouragement from the book of Acts. Even having the conversation is an inspiration to continue to share the Word and get the good news out. The risen Jesus is on the move - through little people like us, even despite us, and in the face of opposition in every chapter. Let this book spur you on to be a part of the special work of witnessing to others.

Sermon on John 2:1-11 preached at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church by Pastor James Huebner. The glory of Christ strengthens believers. At the beginning of his ministry Jesus performed amazing miracles to validate his claim to be the Son of God. His followers saw his glory and believed in him. Here, Jesus performed a miracle at a wedding to strengthen his disciples' faith. We still see Jesus’ glory, not only in his power over nature, but especially in his power to forgive our sins and strengthen our faith.

Pastor Huebner returns as special guest to visit the book of 1 Samuel for our Bible reading challenge. In the process, he remembers another challenge - how to land a free Big Mac when the sandwich was first introduced...and how fast can you say the books of the Bible? Don't let witchcraft, Dagon or hemorrhoids scare you away from reading 1 Samuel or listening to this podcast. That's just some of the divine humor God put into this book.
