Hackmann Installation Service Today
We welcome Pastor Brian Hackmann and his family to Grace today! The installation service for Pastor Hackmann is this evening, beginning at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. We hope you will join us in officially welcoming him to Grace!
Rooted MKE Disc Golf Outing—Today, from 1-4 p.m., join Rooted MKE for a fun afternoon of disc golf at Estabrook Park in Shorewood. Start the afternoon at Estabrook Beer Garden, and end the day just in time for Pastor Hackmann’s Installation Service. Cost is $5 per person, payable on site. Ascension Celebration—Come for a celebration of world missions and Ascension Day on Thursday, May 30, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Grace Center. Pastor Brad Wordell, who is on faculty at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in a special role coordinating world mission seminaries, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served as well. Door Offering—Grace’s senior student assistant Michael Hollmann’s last Sunday with us is May 26. We will collect a door offering to help with his family’s travels to their first Call and to show our appreciation for his service at Grace.
First Fridays Presents Cecilia Davis—Soprano Cecilia Davis will perform on Friday, June 7, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. Her recent credits include Tales of Hoffmann and Carmina Burana (Skylight Music Theatre). Her program includes Debussy’s “Ariettes oubliées,” Handel arias, selections by Bizet, and Bernstein and other American composers. First Friday concerts are free and open to the public.
Grace in Action June Event—Work the Hunger Task Force Farm, (9000 S. 68th St., Franklin) with Grace in Action, 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, exceptions must be confirmed in advance. Possible activities may include harvesting lettuce, transplanting crops or weeding. Brewers Game with Grace—On Friday, June 21 at 7:10 p.m., the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Cincinnati Reds and we want you to be a part of it! Grace has only 3 tickets remaining for a section of Loge Infield Box seats; tickets are $22 each. Payment will be required prior to the event and to reserve your tickets. Kayak the Milwaukee River with Rooted MKE—Enjoy a day of kayaking on the Milwaukee River Saturday, June 22, 1-5 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. This event is kid friendly and open to everyone, so bring your friends, family, and coworkers! For those 21 and over, drinks are allowed in the kayaks, and the 21+ group will be docking at a few bars for drinks. Please read Milwaukee Kayak Co.’s waiver on their website and RSVP to Josh Grefe by June 7 via firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure there are enough kayaks for all!
Church Picnic—Sunday, June 23, is the date for the Grace Church Picnic! Picnic starts at noon at LaFollette Park (1100 S. 92nd St., West Allis—two blocks north of Greenfield Ave). The park features an indoor shelter, wading pool, basketball court, kickball field, jungle gym, and tennis court. Hamburgers, hot dogs, all utensils and soft drinks will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass, and if anyone would like to bring a dessert as well, it would be greatly appreciated! If you’d like adult beverages, you may bring your own. A freewill offering will be taken to help off-set the cost of the picnic. Sunday Morning Grace Center Hosts Needed—Grace is seeking more smiling faces to greet members, visitors, and guests that visit the coffee shop or attend Bible Study in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings! Tasks may include replenishing treats for Bible Study, monitoring the parking lot, and assisting the coffee shop barista with closing duties. Building hosts are stationed in the Grace Center atrium, near the Juneau Ave. entrance. Free coffee drink of choice from Grace Place during your shift! Wedding Ceremony Hosts Needed—If you are looking for a way to use your great customer service and leadership talents, consider becoming a Grace wedding host! The events staff is currently seeking additional wedding hosts to assist with upcoming wedding ceremonies in 2019. Tasks may include opening the church up for the bridal party and guests, lighting candles, and closing the building properly post-wedding. Weddings hosts are seasonal, paid positions.
