Hackmann Installation on Sunday, May 19
We welcome Pastor Brian Hackmann and his family to Grace next week! Plan to attend the 5 p.m. installation service in the sanctuary, then head to the Great Hall at 6 p.m. for a “Welcome to Milwaukee” dinner. RSVP for the dinner no later than tomorrow, May 13 by clicking HERE or call the church office at 414-271-3006.
Hackmann Gift Registry—At Pastor Hackmann’s installation dinner, Grace will present him and his family with a table of gifts, courtesy of Grace leadership, members, and staff. Our events staff has put together a “Welcome to Milwaukee Hackmann Family” registry, which features several Milwaukee-themed items.

You can also donate food and pantry items for their new home or gift your time to set up and/or take down the event. You can also give a check to off-set the cost of the dinner. Monetary gifts can be given electronically (if you already have that set up), or you may place a check in an envelope in the offering plate (make the check out to Grace Lutheran Church, and place “Hackmann Installation” in the memo section). Sunday Morning Grace Center Hosts Needed—Grace is seeking more smiling faces to greet members, visitors, and guests that visit the coffee shop or attend Bible Study in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings! Tasks may include replenishing treats for Bible Study, monitoring the parking lot, and assisting the coffee shop barista with closing duties. Building hosts are stationed in the Grace Center atrium, near the Juneau Ave. entrance. Free coffee drink of choice from Grace Place during your shift! Wedding Ceremony Hosts Needed—If you are looking for a way to use your great customer service and leadership talents, consider becoming a Grace wedding host! The events staff is currently seeking additional wedding hosts to assist with upcoming wedding ceremonies in 2019. Tasks may include opening the church up for the bridal party and guests, lighting candles, and closing the building properly post-wedding. Weddings hosts are seasonal, paid positions. Rooted MKE Disc Golf Outing—Join RootedMKE on Sunday, May 19, 1-4 p.m. for a fun afternoon of disc golf at Estabrook Park in Shorewood! Start the afternoon at nearby Estabrook Beer Garden, and the day will wrap up just in time for Pastor Hackmann’s Installation. Cost is $5 per person, payable on site. Gracemade May Event—Gracemade returns on Saturday, May 18, 8 a.m.-noon in the Heritage Room. This session will be led by Jeanne Carbon, and feature a fun project: fidget mats! Curious? Google them; they’re pretty neat. Any questions, email Rachel at email@example.com.
Ascension Celebration—Come for a celebration of world missions and Ascension Day on Thursday, May 30, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Grace Center. Pastor Brad Wordell, who is on faculty at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in a special role coordinating world mission seminaries, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served as well. Door Offering—Grace’s senior student assistant Michael Hollmann’s last Sunday with us is May 26. We will collect a door offering to help with his family’s travels to their first Call and to show our appreciation for his service at Grace.
Grace in Action June Event—Work the Hunger Task Force Farm, (9000 S. 68th St., Franklin) with Grace in Action, 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, exceptions must be confirmed in advance. Possible activities may include harvesting lettuce, transplanting crops or weeding. Brewers Game with Grace—On Friday, June 21 at 7:10 p.m., the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Cincinnati Reds and we want you to be a part of it! Grace has only 9 tickets remaining for a section of Loge Infield Box seats; tickets are $22 each. Payment will be required prior to the event and to reserve your tickets. Kayak the Milwaukee River with Rooted MKE—Enjoy a day of kayaking on the Milwaukee River Saturday, June 22, 1-5 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. This event is kid friendly and open to everyone, so bring your friends, family, and coworkers! For those 21 and over, drinks are allowed in the kayaks, and the 21+ group will be docking at a few bars for drinks. Please read Milwaukee Kayak Co.’s waiver on their website and RSVP to Josh Grefe by June 7 via email@example.com to ensure there are enough kayaks for all!
