Professor Tiefel Retirement Celebration Luncheon—Professor James P. Tiefel, who has served Grace Church as a part-time Minister of Music since 1995, has officially retired from his position at Grace. Summer Sunday School—Sunday School is still going during the summer! Ages 3 years old (and toilet trained) through sixth grade are invited to participate in a space-themed,VBS-style hour of stories, crafts, and games, 9 a.m. Sundays through June and July in the Heritage Room (lower level of the Parish Center). First Fridays Presents Cecilia Davis—Soprano Cecilia Davis performs Friday, June 7, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. Recent credits include Tales of Hoffmann and Carmina Burana at Skylight Music Theatre. Her program includes Debussy’s “Ariettes oubliées,” Handel arias, selections by Bizet, and Bernstein and other American composers. First Friday concerts are free and open to the public.

Happy Hobby Hour: Dartball—Give this fun, alternative sport a try on Friday, June 14, as Northside Lutheran Mens Dartball League members Jeff and Tom show you the ropes! Grace in Action—Grace in Action is working The Hunger Task Force Farm, 9000 S. 68th St., Franklin, (Ryan Rd. and 68 St.), 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. Possible activities include harvesting lettuce, transplanting crops or weeding. Volunteers must be 16 years or older, or ages 12-15 with a chaperone. Sheepshead Date Correction—Sheepshead is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, instead of June 13, as previously announced. Sheepshead takes place once a month, in the Grace Center Great Hall. All are invited to join in on the fun!

Kayak the Milwaukee River—Enjoy a day of kayaking on the Milwaukee River Saturday, June 22, 1-5 p.m. This event is kid friendly and open to everyone, so bring your friends, family, and coworkers! The cost is $20 per person. For those 21+, drinks are allowed in the kayaks, and the 21+ group will dock at a few bars for drinks. Please read Milwaukee Kayak Co.’s waiver on their website and RSVP to Josh Grefe by June 7 via rootedmke@gmail.com to ensure there are enough kayaks for all!

Church Picnic—Sunday, June 23, is the date for the Grace Church Picnic! Picnic starts at noon at LaFollette Park (1100 S. 92nd St., West Allis—two blocks north of Greenfield Ave). The park features an indoor shelter, wading pool, basketball court, kickball field, jungle gym, and tennis court. Hamburgers, hot dogs, all utensils and soft drinks will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass, and if anyone would like to bring a dessert as well, it would be greatly appreciated! If you’d like adult beverages, you may bring your own. A freewill offering will be taken to help off-set the cost of the picnic. Sunday Morning Grace Center Hosts Needed—Grace is seeking smiling faces to greet members and guests who visit the coffee shop or attend Bible study in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings! Tasks may include replenishing treats for Bible study, monitoring the parking lot, and assisting the coffee shop barista with closing duties. Building hosts are stationed in the Grace Center atrium, near the Juneau Ave. entrance. Free coffee drink of choice from Grace Place during your shift!
