Church Picnic—The Grace Church Picnic is quickly approaching! Starting at noon, on Sunday, June 23, 2019 join us at LaFollette Park (1100 S. 92nd St., West Allis—two blocks north of Greenfield Ave). Sign-up sheets can be found in the Parish Center and Grace Center as well as online, under the Connect tab on the Grace website. Please sign-up by June 20 so that we know how much food to order, and please bring a dish to pass or a dessert. Hamburgers, hot dogs, all utensils and soft drinks are provided. If you would like adult beverages, you may bring your own as well. We are also looking for grills and grillers for the hamburgers and hot dogs as well as people to help with setup and take down. Sheepshead Date Correction—Sheepshead is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, instead of June 13, as previously announced. Sheepshead takes place once a month, in the Grace Center Great Hall. All are invited to join in on the fun!

Canticum Novum Concert at Grace—Canticum Novum, a WELS chamber choir, invites you to join them for their upcoming concert at Grace on Thursday, June 20, 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Grace Place coffee shop manager Samantha O’Connell and Grace member Anne Hafenstein both will be performing with the choir. This summer’s program is titled “Blessed,” which focuses on the many blessings the Lord promises and has given, while also offering songs of thanksgiving and praise.

Sunday Morning Grace Center Hosts Needed—Grace is seeking smiling faces to greet members and guests who visit the coffee shop or attend Bible study in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings! Tasks may include replenishing treats for Bible study, monitoring the parking lot, and assisting the coffee shop barista with closing duties. Building hosts are stationed in the Grace Center atrium, near the Juneau Ave. entrance. Free coffee drink of choice from Grace Place during your shift! Host Families Needed—Have you ever thought about opening up your home to an international student for a school year? Wisconsin Lutheran High School is looking for host families for the 2019-20 school year. Families will receive a stipend of $700/month to support their efforts as host. Adopt a Foster Family with WELS Kingdom Workers—Not all feel called to foster, but you can support the families who do. Consider adopting a foster family! WELS Kingdom Workers is seeking teams of 6-8 volunteers per family. While each family is different, anticipated activities include childcare, yard work, homework assistance, light home maintenance, meal prep or transportation. The deadline to apply is July 30, 2019. WELS Bargain Centers Seeking Volunteers—The WELS Bargain Centers have been operating thrift stores in Milwaukee for over 50 years and have contributed over 4 million dollars to WELS related organizations, including Wisconsin Lutheran High School, The Point of Grace Student Center, Wisconsin Lutheran Institutional Ministries, Wisconsin Lutheran College and Wisconsin Lutheran Christian Family Services. The Bargain Centers currently have openings for new store volunteers. Volunteering provides a great opportunity for service while meeting new friends and enjoying Christian fellowship.
