Happening Around Grace

Call Update—Last Sunday Pastor Brian Hackmann announced he was accepting his call to serve as an associate pastor of outreach here at Grace! Please keep him and his family in your prayers as they being the process of moving from Alaska to Milwaukee over the next few months.

Open Forum & Congregation Meeting Today—Join president Josh Schermerhorn and council members today at either 9 or 10:15 a.m. in the Grace Center Great Hall for an update and review of 2018 and our ministry goals for 2019. A congregation meeting will start at 11:45 a.m. to vote on the 2019 budget and new council members. Doughnuts and light refreshments will be provided. Please note that there is no Sunday morning Bible class today.

Offering Envelopes for 2019—If you haven’t picked up your offering envelopes for 2019 yet, please do so! Envelopes can be found in the Parish Center, on the Welcome Center counter. Those already enrolled in electronic giving are not assigned envelopes, but if you would still like a box of them, contact the church office or indicate this on the clipboard near the envelopes.

Flower Chart for 2019—Do you have a special anniversary, birthday, or celebration coming up? Consider sharing that joy with Grace with a gift of altar flowers! Grace YP January Event: Escape Room—Join Grace YP on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Escape MKE (3333 N Mayfair Rd, Wauwatosa). The group will have an hour to attempt to escape Mr. Dupree’s Office. Cost is $15 per person (thanks to Grace covering the other half of the cost!). The room allows for a max of 10 players, so please RSVP in advance. Contact graceyp@gmail.com for details.

Assist with Campus Ministry—Did you know you can help with Grace’s campus ministry at MSOE and Marquette? Rides to church, providing meals, hosting events, and care-packages for students are all areas you can help serve! Questions? Contact Pastor Strong at astrong@gracedowntown.org.

First Fridays Presents Avanti Guitar Trio—The Chicago-based ensemble comprised of Jason Deroche, Julie Goldberg, and Wesley Hixson returns to First Fridays on Friday, Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. Their program features new music and original arrangements for guitar trio including the Carmen Suite by G. Bizet, Spanish Favorites, and new compositions by American composers. Women of Grace February Event—Women of Grace is kicking off 2019 with a special screening of The War Room on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Grace Center Great Hall. This event will kick off a new five-week Bible study series on Sunday mornings. Details for the Bible study series can be found on the back page. Volunteers for Night to Shine—Night To Shine, an unforgettable prom night event for individuals with special needs ages 14 and older, is set for Friday, Feb. 8, from 5:30-9 p.m. in the Grace Center, and volunteers are needed. Marriage Seminar—Experts in golf say that when you swing you need to have great follow through. The same is true with love. You need to follow through in showing your love. Think it. Say it. Do it. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, Grace’s married couples are invited to attend a marriage seminar so together, they can work on their follow through. Even if you already have great follow through, come to keep it going and to encourage others!
