Happening at Grace

Grace Members in Need—Our Seminary Senior Assistant, Michael Hollmann, and his wife, Erin, recently had a baby who came very early! They have requested some assistance with meals. If you are able to help them, please go to mealtrain.com/vwgmg6 for more information and to sign up! If you have any questions, or do not have computer access and want to help, call Sarah Egelseer at 920-285-8775. Thank you for your consideration in helping them through this difficult time!

Assist with Campus Ministry—College students are back in class and Grace’s campus ministry is in full swing at MSOE and (new this year) Marquette. Your help is needed! Rides to church are needed for Marquette students on Sunday mornings as well as in forming a Campus Ministry group that would coordinate meals, events, and care-packages for students. If you are passionate about serving young people at this important stage of life, please contact Pastor Strong at astrong@gracedowntown.org.

First Fridays presents Steeplechasers—Check out this dynamic chamber music ensemble on Friday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. With a rotating group of local musicians, Steeplechasers performs classical masterworks that may include strings, piano, woodwinds, or percussion. Learn more at steeplechasersmke.com. First Fridays concerts are free and last about an hour. Light refreshments follow the performance.

An Open Forum will be held Sunday, Nov. 4, at 9 and 10:15 a.m. in the Heritage Room (church basement). Come for an update and discussion of Grace’s strategic plan and goals for 2019, including expanded ministry at Grace and downtown. Scrumptious bacon and other refreshments will be served by the church council.

Gracemade—Gracemade meets monthly, 8 a.m.-noon on the third Saturday in the church basement. Anyone and any experience level is welcome to join. Check out their upcoming projects:

Oct. 20: no-sew fleece tie blankets
Nov. 17: pajama pants

Did you know? Since Gracemade’s formation, they’ve donated 175 items to those in need! Want to get involved? Contact Rachel LaMantia at gracemademke@gmail.com.

Save the Date: Advent By Candlelight is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1. All ladies of Grace are invited and encouraged to host a table for the event! Thanks to some small changes, hosting a table this year will be easier than ever! Hosting a table presents an opportunity to focus your heart on Advent and Christmas, an opportunity for fellowship with other ladies from Grace, and an opportunity for evangelism—reach out and invite a friend who may not have a strong church connection. Please sign up to host a table by Oct. 29; signup sheets are available in the Parish Center and Grace Center, or call the church office, 414-271-3006. You are also welcome to contact ABC coordinator Sarah Egelseer, 920-285-8775 or sarahegelseer@live.com. Also look for more information to come in the Grace Notes and the Grace Newsletter!

Volunteers for Night to Shine—Grace will host Night To Shine on Friday, Feb. 8, from 5:30-9 p.m. in the Grace Center. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation for individuals with special needs ages 14 and older. Volunteers are needed in many different areas to make this all come together. Sign-up sheets are available in the Parish Center lobby as well as online. Brief descriptions of responsibilities for each area are included on the sign-up sheets, so pick whatever suits you best. Questions, contact Renee Hundley at rhundley@gracedowntown.org or Drew Carter at dcarter@gracedowntown.org.
