Happening at Grace

Fourth Pastor Call Meeting—The next call meeting is set for this Sunday, July 1, at 11:45 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Pardon Our Dust—Maybe you’ve noticed the scaffolding and heavy equipment on the Grace campus in recent weeks. This summer, the exterior masonry of our church building is getting some tender loving care: the foundation and brick walls will be tuckpointed and repaired, the terracotta ornamentation will be repaired as needed, and finally, the whole exterior will be cleaned from top to bottom. The three-month project is now about half-way completed. For more information, please contact church administrator Kevin Becker: kbecker@gracedowntown.org.

Save the Date for Grace Bible Study Days—Grace Bible Study Days is around the corner! Join Pastor Bondow, Pastor Huebner, and your Grace family Aug. 14-16, 2018 for three days of fun-filled fellowship and faith-building. This year, attendees will have two studies to choose from:

“What in the World is Going On? (a study on Obadiah)
“Issues on the Roles of Men and Women”

Watch for sign-up sheets later this month.

Moms Group Summer Park Play Dates—Hey Moms! Friday mornings together are over, but that means Wednesday Park Play Dates are back for the summer!

Dates and locations below:
July 11: Kinderberg Park, Germantown
July 18: Lake Park Playground, Milwaukee
July 25: Doctors Park, Fox Point

Contact Anna Bondow at dabondow@gmail.com with questions.

Installation Service for Drew Carter—Grace’s new Minister of Discipleship, Drew Carter, will be installed on Sunday, July 15, during the 10:30 service. Meet, greet, and celebrate with Drew and his wife, Diana, at a luncheon in the Grace Center afterward. All Grace members are welcome and encouraged to attend the luncheon (kids, too!). Check your email or gracedowntown.org to RSVP online, or contact the church office by Friday, July 6. Meanwhile, continue to pray for Drew and Diana as they relocate to the Milwaukee area.

To welcome the Carters, consider giving nonperishable food items to stock their pantry or gift cards for restaurants, department stores, Target, Walmart, etc. Gifts will be collected in the Parish Center Lobby July 1-15 and unveiled at the luncheon. If you wish to support the luncheon through a monetary gift, mark it clearly and drop in the offering plate, or send it to the office.

New Communion Schedule—Beginning this month, Holy Communion at Grace will be celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month instead of the second and last Sundays. The change in schedule is in the interest of liturgical variety and to make use of the new resources.

Sign Up for Splash Canyon!—Summertime children’s ministry at Grace is back! Get ready for Splash Canyon, a fun adventure series running Sundays through July 29, 2018 for ages 3 through 12. Sign ups are available in the Grace and Parish Centers, as well as online at
gracedown.org/splashcanyon. Teens 13 and older are encouraged to help! For questions or details, contact Pastor Bondow at dbondow@gracedowntown.org.

Happening Around the WELS

Seeking 4th of July Parade Walkers—North Shore Christian Academy, the new Grace-affiliated school in Milwaukee’s North Shore, is participating in the Whitefish Bay 4th of July parade this year. The Whitefish Bay parade and all-day festivities are one of the best in the city and we want to make a BIG statement by having a large group of children and adults representing NSCA. Consider walking with our group alongside our decorated car for the mile-long route, throw candy, and hand out frisbees. Must be in Whitefish Bay at 11:00 on Wednesday, July 4th for an 11:30 start time. The parade route ends at beautiful Klode Park on the lakefront of Whitefish Bay where an entire day of fun festivities for the whole family awaits - games, food trucks, beer tents, bands, and of course, fireworks! Contact Lori Hassler for more information or to sign up!

Summer Arts in the Park—Wisconsin Lutheran College will host a free Art and Craft Fair on July 28. For a complete schedule of Summer Arts in the Park events, visit wlc.edu/summer-arts.

WELS Night at Miller Park—Join thousands of other WELS members on Friday, Aug. 3 for a 7:10 p.m. game against the
Colorado Rockies. The Brewers are once again offering WELS members up to 50% off the price of tickets. Seats will be along the third base line and in a block with WELS members. Tickets are now on sale! For more information or to purchase tickets, go to wels.net/event/brewers2018.
