The Good News of Sin

You can't repent of confusion or psychological flaws inflicted by your parents.

John Alexander writes in the Student Leadership Journal, “Sin is the best news there is. Because with sin there’s a way out. You can’t repent of confusion or psychological flaws inflicted by your parents – you’re stuck with them. But you can repent of sin. Sin and repentance are the only grounds for hope and joy, the grounds for reconciled, joyful relationships” (Fall, 2000, p. 23).

The Bible promises, “Sin shall not be your master, because you are … under grace” (Romans 6:14).

PRAYER: Sin is so powerful in my life, Lord Jesus. But you are more powerful. Sin can offer me such wonderful pleasure. But you offer wonderful treasure. Forgive me for all I’ve done wrong. Keep me from sin by the power of your resurrection acting mightily through my humble faith. Help me better understand myself and others that, delivered from sin, I can serve you and them with renewed joy and commitment. Amen.
