Stay on the Road

Watch out for those trees.

Jeremy Dean and his parents, of Burney, California, filed a lawsuit in January, 1997 against Shasta County for at least $700,000 for Jeremy’s total disability that resulted from a car crash.

Jeremy and some friends had been out drinking.  Jeremy was in the back seat of a car and had stuck his head out the window just as the driver veered off the road – ramming Jeremy’s head into a tree.  The lawsuit claims that it is the county’s fault that the tree was so close to the road.

Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13,14).

Find the small gate, where Jesus opens the door.  Stay on the narrow road, where Jesus guides the way.

Watch out for those trees.

PRAYER: How easy it is, Jesus, for me to become drunk with the distractions of this world that provide relief for today but regret for tomorrow.  Forgive me for straying like a lost sheep.  I know that you’ve come to find me, that you’ve carried me, and now seek to train me that I might gladly follow.  With your grace and guidance, I will stay on the road.  Amen.
